Glossary of Tablets

Active area. Area navigation and drawing tablet where touch input tools or your pen tablet is detected.

Application – specific settings. Settings tools pen tablet and tablet that have been customized for individual applications. The application – specific settings will be active whenever you use the application.

Aspect. The ratio between the vertical and horizontal dimension of the tablet or screen.

Cintiq adapter Connect adapter that converts MobileStudio Pro-C USB connection for the stationary mode to work on computers without USB-C port.

Click force. The amount of force to be applied to the pen tip for a click to occur.

Digital ink. Typically, handwritten content that is created by using the stylus on a computer in the form of sketches, annotations or handwriting. The handwriting can be converted into typed text or use it in its original format.

Change screen. A feature that allows you to work with your tablet on all displays or on one at a time. Only available in multiple monitor systems.

Double – click assisted. A feature that facilitates double – click setting the size of the double – click distance.

Double – click distance. The maximum distance (in screen pixels) that the screen cursor can move between clicks and still be accepted as a double click. Increasing the double – click distance, makes double – clicking easier, but may cause a delay in brush strokes in some graphics applications.

Double – click speed. The maximum time that can elapse between clicks and still be accepted as a double click.

Suitable to clear application. Application software built for compatibility pencil eraser. These applications use the eraser in many different ways, depending on what else has meaning for the application.

Enlarge. Movement used for touch navigation. Touching the tablet surface with two fingers together and then separate the fingers.

ExpressKeys. The customizable control keys found in the pen tablet.

ExpressKeys left. Adjust the Touch Ring and ExpressKeys oriented to the left of the tablet.

ExpressKeys right. Adjust the Touch Ring and ExpressKeys oriented to the right of the tablet.

Thumbwheel. Wheel control optional Airbrush.

LED. Light Emitting Diode (Light Emitting Diode according to LIUXERS.COM). They are used as indicator lights on the tablet.

Projection. The relationship between the position of the tool on the pen tablet and the cursor position on the monitor screen.

Modifier. Modifier keys are, among others, Shift, Alt and Ctrl for Windows or Shift, Ctrl, Command and Option for Mac. You can customize the tool buttons or ExpressKeys to simulate a modifier key.

Mouse acceleration. Adjusting the Projection tab allows you to set the screen cursor acceleration when using mouse mode.

Mouse mode. A method for positioning the screen cursor. If you place a tool in the pen tablet, you can move the screen cursor with a “pick up and slide” motion similar to what is done by using a computer mouse. This is what is known as relative positioning , and is the default setting for the optional mouse.

Mouse speed. Adjusting the Projection tab allows you to set the rate at which move the mouse cursor screen mode.

Tip pen. Punta Replaceable pencil.

Pairing. Method to create a link for virtual cable between two devices.

Move. Move used for touch navigation. Touching the tablet surface with your fingers and move them in the same direction.

Pen input. A method for controlling the computer using the stylus.

Pencil. Mode Method pen input to position the cursor on the screen. When you place your pen on the tablet, the screen cursor will jump to the corresponding point on the screen. This is what is known as absolute positioning , and is the default setting for tools pen tablet. Pen mode lets you position the screen cursor quickly without having to first find it and move it across the desk.

Reduce. Movement used for touch navigation. Touching the surface of the tablet with two fingers slightly apart and then bring them on the tablet surface.

Pixel. The smaller screen monitor display unit of measurement.

Pressure sensitivity. Quality tip Wacom pen and eraser that senses the amount of pressure being applied. It is used to create natural -looking pen, brush and eraser in applications that are sensitive to pressure.

Pressure sensitive application. Any application that supports the introduction of pressure sensitive data.

Proximity. Height above the active area of the tablet where the pen is detected.

Radial control menu on the screen. Hierarchical menu (in radial format) of the onscreen controls. Each level of the menu consists of eight menu fragments which in turn contain different features and options to choose from . You can customize the buttons on the tablet or pen to view this menu.

Rotate. Movement used for touch navigation. Touch the tablet with two fingers slightly apart and rotate in a circular motion, moving in opposite directions or maintain a fixed finger and moving the other finger around the stationary finger.

Screen cursor. Cursor displayed on the display screen. Screen cursors have different ways (for example, I – shaped, arrow , or box), depending on the application that is running.

Swipe. Movement used for touch navigation. Touching the tablet surface with three, four or five fingers and slide quickly across the tablet in the same direction.

Plucking. Movement used for touch navigation. Touch and lift a single finger (or more fingers, depending on the movement) on the tablet.

Tilt sensitive. Quality of the pen tip and eraser for which the degree of tilt between the tool and the tablet is detected. It is used to create natural -looking pen, brush and eraser in applications that are sensitive to the steepness.

Touching. Method to interact with the computer using only your fingertips on the tablet. You can also call touch input.

Touch Ring. The customizable control ring located on the pen tablet.

Touch Strips. The customizable control bands are at the back of the Cintiq 22 device.

Touch sensor. Navigation Area pen tablet where touch input is detected. The touch sensor is within the active area and does not accept pen input.

Go. Movement used for touch navigation. Touch and move a single finger across the tablet surface.

USB. Universal Serial Bus (Universal Serial Bus). Hardware interface standard for connecting computer peripheral devices.
