The world geography is the study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, including oceans, landforms, climates, plants and animals. It also includes the study of human activities such as population distribution, agriculture, industry and trade. The physical features of the earth can be divided into two main categories: landforms and bodies of water. Landforms are made up of mountains, valleys, plains, hills and plateaus. Major mountain ranges include the Himalayas in Asia and the Andes in South America. Valleys are low areas between two higher elevations while plains are flatlands that may be covered with grasses or other vegetation. Plateaus are raised areas that form a flat surface at a higher elevation than its surroundings. Bodies of water include oceans, rivers and lakes. The five major oceans on Earth are: Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean and Southern Ocean. Climate is another important factor when studying world geography. Climate is determined by temperature patterns over time which can vary from region to region due to differences in latitude or altitude as well as ocean currents or prevailing winds. The climates range from tropical near equator to temperate closer to the poles; other climates include desert or arid regions located at 30° latitude north or south where there is little precipitation; tundra regions located near the poles where temperatures remain low; mountain regions with cooler temperatures due to their high elevation; and oceanic climates found along coasts which have mild temperatures year-round due to their proximity to large bodies of water such as oceans or seas. When studying world geography it is also important to consider plants and animals which can differ significantly depending on climate patterns as well as human activities such as farming or logging which can impact habitats for species living in a particular region. Human activities can also affect population distribution which is another important factor when looking at world geography since it affects how people interact with each other in various parts of the world as well as how resources are used in different areas around the globe.
